If you’re an existing client of mine you already know just how blunt I can be at times, and you also know that when I have to “give you the business”, that I say it with love. If you’re a new reader, welcome. But it’s no different for you.

Here’s the facts!

It really doesn’t matter how good the products or services you sell are, or how low your prices are. The image and reputation of you’re your suppliers or manufacturers don’t really amount to much when you get right down to it, either. And location? That really doesn’t matter that much, either. You don’t have to be located in a highly visible, high traffic area to be super successful.

What really matters – what really counts – what really makes the difference, is how you market your business. That’s it.  How you educate others about the benefits and advantages they’ll gain from doing business with you, as well as what they’ll lose if they don’t do business with you. There are varying degrees of how well you can accomplish this, but this is the meat & potatoes of it.

The plain and simple fact is, MARKETING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITY in your business, by far. Everything else in your business can be the greatest. You can have great products, the lowest prices, a wonderful reputation, good name recognition, the best customer service – but if you don’t have anyone to sell to, what good are these things?

On the other hand, even if you don’t rate number one in all those categories, if you have a steady stream of qualified prospects seeking you out, wanting to know more about how you operate, and nearly standing in line to do business with you, it’s nearly impossible for you to fail.

If you were to list everything you could think of that could contribute to the success of your business, then rank them in order of importance, the number one item on your list absolutely better be… Read More→

These Are Still Valid

Author Michael Jeffreys personally interviewed 15 top motivational gurus in 1997 for his then upcoming book. After talking to gurus from Brian Tracy to Dr. Wayne Dyer, he distilled 8 Secrets to Success they all agreed upon. These secrets are still good today!

Here you go:

1. Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life – In a society where people blame everything from their parents to the government for failure, those who don’t buy into this mentality or succumb to the “victim” thinking succeed. To blame something or somebody outside yourself is saying they have control of your life and not you. Someone else’s opinion of you doesn’t have to become your reality.

2. Live Your Life On Purpose – What separates motivational thinkers from the unsuccessful is that they believe they’re doing what they were put her to do. The difference between this and just living, is that the latter is just getting through the week with the least problems. But when you live your life on purpose, your main concern is doing the job right. For the entrepreneur this means finding a cause you believe in and building your business around it.

3. Be Willing to Pay the Price – Be willing to pay the price for your dreams. Wanting a big house, a luxury car, and a million dollars in the bank is all very nice, and everyone wants these things – but are you willing to pay the price to get them? This is one of the major differences between the successful and unsuccessful.

4. Stay Focused – Every day we’re bombarded with hundreds of tasks, phone calls, messages, and everyone competing for our time. Focusing requires giving up something in the present because you are investing your time in something that will pay off big-time down the road. Jack Canfield and Mark Hanson were turned by 30 publishers when they submitted the first “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book. Instead of giving up, they stayed focused on their goal and did four or five interviews per day for radio, TV, and newspapers, for five days a week for a whole year. Eventually, a small publisher decided to take a chance, and of course now it’s a best-seller that spawned an entire series that have sold more than Read More→

Good morning good people!

This is the second part of the earlier post Why You’re In Sales Whether You Know It Or Not ( Part1) Enjoy!

“S” stands for State (mental) Management. The mental state of the successful presenter must be congruent with the message. If you don’t believe that, try giving a pep talk to your sales force when you’re depressed – it won’t work! You must be aware of and manage your own mental state and that of your listeners or communication channels will not be open. I don’t have space to elaborate on methods of doing this, but here are a few key hints. First, “AAI” – act as if. Act the way you want to feel, it’s amazing how this works. Use music to set the mood if necessary, dress the part, and reduce your anxiety by whatever method works for you. Remember that you’re the one in charge, and presentation mastery isn’t about being perfect – it’s about achieving your objective.

“E” is for Eliminating the Unknowns. Fear of public speaking ranks high on most people’s list of worst fears. For some it’s even scarier than the thought of dying. You may find you’re unusually nervous, develop poor voice tone or negative body language, and be unable to respond to audience feedback. Managing your anxiety permits you to focus on your audience and their needs. The basic approach to do this is the asking ourselves a list of “what if?” questions. Another way to overcome our fear is to take ownership of the situation. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Double check your notes, and prepare yourself.

“N” is cheating a little by using the second letter of the word “know” – as in kNow Your Audience. Whether it is one person or many that you are presenting to you must do three basic things: Read More→

Strange as it may seem, our life is made up of a series of “sales presentations”. Sales may not be your gig, but if you’re the boss you’re making presentations everyday. Be it a pitch to your Board, announcing a policy change to employees, selling an idea to your spouse, dealing with your kids or just trying to win others over to your point of view – you need to step up your people skills for winning pitches.

Like it or not we are all salesmen. Our lives are made up of a series of “sales presentations”, otherwise known as presenting one’s self in the best light possible. Whether we’re out for a job interview, a raise, or just convincing our employees that a job must be accomplished – you are making a presentation.

To become masterful at it can be summed up in the acronym IPRESENT!

I – Involve Your Audience

Human nature is such that people support solutions that they help create, so involve them by allowing your audience to participate with questions or ideas. It goes without saying that to not involve key people is risky, because messages can be easily misunderstood. Your plans may be derailed before they begin if you don’t have sufficient “buy-in”. Use lots of open-ended questions in your presentation to encourage meaningful dialogue.

P – Prepare Your Audience

Preparation is a key to success. Prepare your listeners to what’s coming during or before your presentation. Try these pre-meeting tactics:

Assign task-related pre-work. This could be pre-reading or study of a problem, and the preparations of possible solutions. An example could be, “go and visit three kinds of accounts before the meeting.” Make pre-meeting contacts with those invited by email, phone, or in person. You might want to try an informal survey to get people’s position on the issues at hand.

Remember support on key or controversial matters can be established ahead of time by rallying the troops, if you know where to lobby.

R – Research Your Arsenal

Do your research! You better believe the people who make it look easy and are effective presenters have a hidden arsenal. This is an arsenal of up-to-date, organized material that can be accessed quickly in ready-to-use form when they need it. They have the stats to back up their ideas, and they have a mental arsenal of stories, examples, jokes, and ice-breakers to use when needed. Read More→

How much consideration do you give to the power of words and how much they actually impact your life?

With your permission I’d like to enter the types of internal conversation that may be going on in some of your minds right now.

It might sound something similar to this…

1. “Man. I know I need to lose weight, but I don’t have time to go to the gym. Why can’t this be easier?”

Another person says to themselves…

2. “I’m sick of paying all these damn bills! Why is it taking so long to get out of debt? Why can’t I make more money?”

Or…

3. “Why can’t life be easier? Why do I have to be the one to struggle all the time?”
Common thoughts & concerns we all deal with time to time right?

You’d be silly not to be concerned about these things and how they impact your life. But you would be silly to allow your internal communication to continue to be so damaging.

Take a close look at the statements again. Pay attention to them. They may not be thoughts you’re having right now, but read them out loud anyway and pay attention to how it makes you feel to say them. Try it now.

Ok, now try saying them like this…

1. “How can I continue to make small changes to improve my health so I’m prepared to enjoy the fullness of life that comes from increased energy and wellness?”

2. “How can I be more grateful for the money that now comes to me in increasing quantities, through multiple sources on a continual basis?”

3. “How can I be even more aware of the unlimited opportunities that surround me in my life right now?”

There’s a HUGE difference! If you actually did what I suggested you will know from first hand experience the change in your physiology and mood.

The difference is in the 3 words… why can’t I & HOW CAN I?

When you take your problems and concerns and reframe them with a positive declaration it changes your entire perspective.

I encourage you to think about your concerns, reframe them, write them down and put them somewhere where you’ll see them all the time.

When you practice this continually you will begin to notice the opportunities to celebrate the small victories in your life everyday.

I have mad love for you and I wish you much continued success family!

Now go put this love in action!

7 Ways To Use Customer Testimonials Once You Get Them
You MUST get testimonials from your customers and clients, but just getting them isn’t enough. Knowing how to use them in your marketing activities is what makes the difference. The following are seven ideas you can use to implement testimonials into your marketing programs.

Idea # 1 – Create a “What People Are Saying…” report. I once heard the story of an independent consultant who after proposing on a project, was asked for his resume. Instead of sending his resume, he made copies of all the testimonials people had sent him (hundreds) and put them in a shoe box and sent them to the company. Needless to say, he got the project.

Create your own “What People Are Saying…” report by putting copies of your best testimonials together in a booklet and giving them to prospects. This will become a very powerful marketing tool for you.

Idea # 2 – Put testimonials on your website. Scatter testimonials from customers all over your website. Many webmasters make the mistake of creating a testimonial page and putting all the testimonials one page. Place testimonials wherever you make bold claims. If you have testimonials pertaining to a specific product, place those testimonials under that product.

Another great area to place testimonials on your website is on the right and left borders. They will be a constant reminder of your credibility. If you have a sign-up page of any sort, consider including a testimonial that talks specifically about what you are asking your visitor to sign up to, whether it be your newsletter or access to special information.
